Myth vs. Fact

Setting the record straight.

Myth

I need a fintech background to work at Alloy.

Fact

Most of our team came from outside fintech. We train deeply on the domain in your first 30 days.

Myth

It's a high-pressure, always-on culture.

Fact

We move with urgency, but we don't glorify burnout. PTO is unlimited and the average Alloyer takes 22 days a year.

Myth

Engineers don't talk to customers.

Fact

Every engineer joins customer calls in their first month, and ships something to production in the first two weeks.

Myth

Remote employees are second-class citizens.

Fact

Roughly 60% of Alloyers work remotely. All meetings are hybrid-first with shared docs and recordings.

How we work

Four values, lived every day.

01

Be candid

Direct feedback is a gift. We say the hard thing kindly and we say it early.

02

Be curious

We default to questions over assumptions. Every Alloyer gets a $1,500 learning stipend.

03

Be customer-obsessed

Our customers stop billions in fraud. We sweat the details because they're trusting us with that.

04

Be collaborative

We optimize for the team's outcome, not the individual's spotlight.

Interview tips

From our hiring team.

  • Bring examples, not abstractions. Specifics about a real project beat polished frameworks every time.

  • Ask the questions you'd want answered on day one — comp, scope, your manager's style, how decisions get made.

  • It's okay to say 'I don't know.' We're evaluating how you think, not whether you've memorized the answer.

  • Show your craft. Bring a portfolio, a doc, a Loom — whatever lets you show how you actually work.

What Alloyers actually say.

"
I joined for the technical challenge and stayed for the people. The bar is high, but no one ever makes you feel small for not knowing something.

"
The thing I tell every candidate: leadership is genuinely accessible. I had a 1:1 with our CEO in my first month, and it wasn't a stunt.

Coming from a big bank, I expected the bureaucracy to follow me. It didn't. I shipped a customer-facing process change in my second week.
